​Serving medical scheme members is the motto which guides the manner in which the Board of Healthcare Funders fulfills its function of representative body to the healthcare funding industry. BHF members include: medical schemes, administrator and managed care organisations throughout the Southern African region, with membership in South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi and Swaziland.

What we do for our Members

The BHF plays a leading role in lobbying and advocating policy positions on behalf of its members, in addition to raising general awareness of the attractiveness, competitiveness and sustainability of the healthcare sector.
The BHF strives to provide economies of scale in order to enable its members to deliver value to their membership in return, as well as deliver stewardship and facilitate thought leadership exchange on industry issues.
Additional member services include trustee training development; legal advisory and related support services; and research and advice in the areas of health, benefits and risk management
